Dr Sharifah Eliza Jamalullail

B.sc (uk), MBBS (UK), MAFP (MAL) FRACGP (AUS)

Primary Care & Family Medicine Specialist

Dr Sharifah

My name is Dr Sharifah Eliza Jamalullail but my patients usually call me Dr. Elly. I graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine and Dentistry in London in  June 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a MBBS.  I then did my housemanship in Kent in the UK.

After returning from the United Kingdom, I worked in the obstetric and gynaecology department and paediatric department in Pusat Perubatan University Malaya (PPUM) for 6 months.  Since then I have been working as a General Practitioner. During this time I have gotten my MAFP (Malaysian Academy of Family Physician) and FRACGP (Fellowship of Royal Australian College of GP).  After my 1 year of gazettement in Klinic Kesihatan Kelana Jaya I am now a Family Medicine Specialist.

My 17 years of experience in general practice started in the primary care department in Pusat Perubatan University Malaya (PPUM).  This was followed by working as a GP  at Twin Tower Medical centre KLCC, Twin Tower Medical centre Sentral and Verve Specialist Centre. We provided a wide range of vaccinations at these clinics and extensively addressed various health issues in Travel medicine which I have a keen interest in.

Preventive medicine plays a huge role in  screening where its goal is to protect, promote and maintain health and well-being and to prevent disease and disability.  This experience was gained when I worked  in Prince Court’s one-stop Executive Health Screening  Centre  .  Preventive medicine and wellness is the way of the future and I believe this is a very important aspect of Family medicine.

As explained by the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA), the aim of family medicine is to provide personal, comprehensive and continuing care for the individual in the context of the family and the community.  I hope that I will be able to do this in Nara clinic.

Family medicine is devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages.  We not only look after the patient as an individual but also their spouses, children and parents.  Having a husband as a Geriatrician underlies how important healthy ageing is and this is of particular importance as Malaysia is an ageing nation.   I have a particular interest in children and women’s health and being a mother  has made me realize how all parents instinctively place the health of their kids above all else. I hope to practice a more holistic way of medicine in Nara clinic which extends beyond the physical to the emotional, environmental and mental well being of a patient.
